Originally from the Dominican Republic, Basel-based rapper Jennifer Perez weaves her cultural influences into her music and impresses with her strong voice and captivating stage presence. Her stage name La Nefera, inspired by the mighty Nefertiti, symbolises power, which she effortlessly unleashes during her performances. Her band of the same name stands for an original line-up, empowering lyrics and an unmistakable aesthetic. In her music, La Nefera skilfully combines Latin American influences in particular with hip-hop, 90s crossover and electronic elements. She raps her socio-political lyrics over an electrifying sound that invites you to dance. In 2024, La Nefera released her third album under the title ‘Aprendí a vivir’ (I have learnt to live). On it, she discusses her decision to focus entirely on music, the uncertainties and difficulties she faced and makes a strong plea to dedicate yourself to your dreams and passions and to find the courage to follow your own personal path.
